Student Teacher Education Program (STEP) – Workshop 1

Changes in emerging technologies have placed at the forefront the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that will equip students with the required level of Digital Competency Requirement (DCR) to succeed. In recognition of the impacts of technologies, students who are admitted in 2024/25 can fulfill the DCR by completing one of the pathways.

Flying Your Mini-drone with Photogrammetry (Cantonese)

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as ‘drones’, are aircraft piloted remotely by an operator. A drone is a way to teach real-world examples of coding in action, demonstrating principles of flight and physics. Therefore, drones have been helpful in organising and developing STEM/STEAM activities.

In this workshop, you will learn how to fly an educational drone (DJI RoboMaster TT). You will have opportunities to learn Scratch and Python by programming drones to design flying trajectories, take pictures, and accomplish autonomous flying missions. At the end of the workshop, you will use RealityCapture, a photogrammetry software, to build 3D models with the images/videos captured by drones.
