Capstone Project: Elite Pathway in AI and Emerging Technologies for Innovation
Admission requirements:
- Programme GPA or Major GPA > 3.30
- Attained a pass in Artificial Intelligence Literacy with a total score of above 88/100
Faculties will select and nominate outstanding students to join the Capstone Project: Elite Pathway. Upon completion, e-badges will be awarded via LinkedIn.
The Capstone Project: Elite Pathway in AI and Emerging Technologies for Innovation consist of two parts:
Part I:
AI and Emerging Technologies for Innovation
Offering from Sem 1, 2026/27
- Credit: 2 (26 hours)
- Advanced AI Algorithms and Emerging Technologies
- Case studies and reflective discussions
- Cutting-edge AI techniques including Large Language Model (LLM) fine-tuning and Agentic architecture
- Hands-on labs using Python (including AI libraries, packages and publicly available models and applications)
- Creation of Individual ePortfolio
Remarks: Students admitted to the University from 2025/26 onwards who join the Elite Pathway may substitute the “Digital Literacy” course (taken in Year 2) by taking “AI and Emerging Technologies for Innovation”.
Part II:
Capstone Project I: Research Methods and Proposal Development
Offering from Sem 2, 2026/27
- Credit: 3 (39 hours)
- User-centred research methods and stakeholder engagement
- Literature review and project positioning within academic and industry contexts
- Technical feasibility, research ethics, and responsible innovation
- Teamwork, leadership, and implementation planning
- Development and presentation of a comprehensive project proposal
Capstone Project II: Implementation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Offering from 2027/28 (Sem 1 and Sem 2)
- Credit: 6
- Refinement and full implementation of the Capstone Project I proposal
- Development of a working prototype, product, or service addressing real-world needs
- Testing, validation, and iterative improvement through stakeholder feedback
- Application of advanced AI and responsible and sustainable innovation principles
- Entrepreneurial mindset, business development, and value proposition
- Project report, live demonstration, and final presentation
Remarks: All 5-year full-time DD undergraduate students are required to take extra credit points beyond their prescribed curriculum to obtain the additional 3 credit points. All 4-year full-time undergraduate students are required to use credit points under “Electives” domain to cover the additional 3 credit points. In other words, the 4-year full-time undergraduate students cannot use core or major-required courses to meet this requirement — the 3 extra credit points must come specifically from elective courses.
