This workshop will provide a practical demonstration of using Copilot, an AI generative tool powered by GPT-4 and the Microsoft Bing Search Engine. The focus will be on exploring how this tool can support academic research and writing. During the workshop, participants will gain hands-on experience with the research process. This will include activities such as identifying a research topic, conducting a literature review, drafting a research paper, and creating a presentation outline. Furthermore, we will delve into the critical evaluation of AI-generated tools in the context of supporting academic research works.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as ‘drones’, are aircraft piloted remotely by an operator. A drone is a way to teach real-world examples of coding in action, demonstrating principles of flight and physics. Therefore, drones have been helpful in organising and developing STEM/STEAM activities.

In this workshop, you will learn how to fly an educational drone (DJI RoboMaster TT). You will have opportunities to learn Scratch and Python by programming drones to design flying trajectories, take pictures, and accomplish autonomous flying missions. At the end of the workshop, you will use RealityCapture, a photogrammetry software, to build 3D models with the images/videos captured by drones.

The assessment reform with an emphasis on formative assessment has been promoted in Hong Kong for two decades. Despite these efforts, the application of formative assessment in classrooms remains insufficient. One significant reason for this inadequacy is the neglect of the synergy between teacher-directed formative assessment (Assessment-for-learning) and student-initiated formative assessment (Assessment-as-learning).
