Humanoid Robot Debuts at EdUHK LTTC Roadshow: 42 Educational‑Technology Workshops Open for Registration
1 Sep 2026, Hong Kong
The Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) hosted its LTTC Roadshow at the STEM Innovation Hub on 31 August and 1 September 2026 to showcase cutting‑edge educational technology applications, attracting over 350 students and colleagues who took part in stamp‑collection activities and redeemed mystery gifts. Attendees engaged with humanoid and quadruped robots, immersive learning setups, VR headsets, metaverse experiences, and generative AI platforms, including the AI4EDU Innovation Hub and Model‑as‑a‑Service Platform.
Highlighted was the LTTC Robotics and Embodied Intelligence (REI) Lab’s newly introduced Unitree R1 humanoid robot — a 123 cm‑tall, 29 kg LLM‑enabled device open for educational secondary‑development work, with students testing its mobility, conversational capacity, dynamic balance and custom routines. LTTC staff also showcased a Python‑based interactive robotic‑arm application built with AI‑assisted coding, which replicates handwriting by capturing digital‑tablet stroke coordinates and applying inverse kinematics to compute required joint angles.
A pre‑roadshow seminar titled Beyond the Classroom: Empowering the Next Generation with AI and XR featured VOTANIC Limited’s Business Development Manager, Mr Manson Chung, and drew over 70 staff and students to explore no-code development of AI-driven immersive learning environments.
The roadshow also promoted LTTC’s 42‑session student‑focused workshops for Semester I, 2026/27. Spanning learning analytics, video production, educational digital tools, LMS operations, graphic design, 3D printing, educational robotics and immersive VR‑CAVE environments, these hands‑on workshops cover AI‑assisted animation and graphic design, AI‑enhanced 3D‑print modelling, robotics‑focused AI‑application building, generative‑AI‑powered metaverse storytelling, AI‑supported data processing, AI‑enabled assessment feedback, AI chatbot development and AI‑agent‑driven webpage creation.
