In this workshop, you will have an initial experience in the Metaverse via the Spatial platform. You will create your avatar and explore the Metaverse spaces via various exciting and user-friendly platform features. You will learn how to develop your Metaverse spaces for project exhibitions using multiple forms of virtual items in a 3D environment to present your creative design and ideas.

Creating 360 Virtual Tours for Teaching in VR CAVE

The VR CAVE at the university is the largest immersive virtual learning environment in Hong Kong, providing 360-degree 4-side and floor projections with motion sensors, enabling students to actively engage and interact with the projected visual content. Over 100 schools in Hong Kong have already established VR CAVE to captivate and inspire students through an immersive learning experience for different subjects.

In this workshop, you can get to know the concept of VR CAVE and develop a step-by-step understanding of creating virtual tours for teaching. You can also get hands-on experience and useful tips in creating digital content such as 360-degree photography, graphic design using Adobe Express, and creating your own immersive virtual tours in VR CAVE for teaching using no-code 360 Designer software.

Apple iOS App Development: Coding with Swift Playgrounds

he Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology is offering the following 2.5-hour certificated workshops on Apple iOS App Development: Coding with Swift Playgrounds.

In the workshop, students can learn how to code with basic Apple Swift codes in the Swift Playgrounds app on iPad and user interface design with the SwiftUI framework. Students can make up executable lines of Swift codes to solve problems, apply logic and solve puzzles. Students can learn computational skills, such as variables, functions, loops and arrays. By the end of the workshop, students can apply the coding practice to create interactive games and apps for any teaching topics in creative ways. Students can get to know the Apple Teacher program, a free professional learning programme certified by Apple that equips educators with Apple technology skills and helps educators design more engaging lessons.

Using Panopto for Editing Video and Quiz

Panopto allows users to edit their videos. This workshop aims at demonstrating how we can do so on Panopto via making changes, adding extra streams to our videos, or creating quizzes embedded in videos.

Topics to be covered include:

understanding the video editing environment of Panopto
preparing the different sources of video streams or slides
adding and editing streams
modifying the publish settings (for controlling captions, downloads, etc.)
how viewers can access the video and the learning materials

Learning and Teaching @EdUHK Festival 2024

The “Learning and Teaching @EdUHK Festival 2024” (the Festival) will be held for four consecutive months from February to May 2024. The theme “Learning and Teaching for Future Readiness” is proposed in view of the strategic development of the University. This year, activities and programme will be organised including open class observations, video showcases, exhibition of poster boards and students sharing. The Festival is organised by the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC), Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD), Faculty of Humanities (FHM), Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS), Graduate School (GS), and School Partnership and Field Experience Office (SPFEO).
