University Students Supporting School Teachers of Academically At-Risk Students through Educational Technology
During school closures, teachers in less resourceful schools have struggled to cater to the diverse learning needs of academically at-risk students in their class. Without the physical presence of the teacher, these students, lacking the digital resources and rich learning experiences with educational technology, may not know how to stay engaged in the learning and teaching tasks and activities in online learning environments.
Therefore, this project aims to enhance student learning engagement and outcomes by providing EdUHK students with the opportunities to support teachers (technically and pedagogically) of academically at-risk students through the experiential learning with state-of-the-art educational technology.
Dr. TANG Hei Hang Hayes
Assistant Professor,
Department of Education Policy and Leadership
Hei-hang Hayes Tang is Assistant Professor of Department of Education Policy and Leadership at the Education University of Hong Kong. He is a sociologist specialising in the areas of higher education, academic profession and youth studies. His current international research project examines the impact of academic entrepreneurialism on institutional change and everyday life of academics in East Asian flagship universities. Most importantly, he develops deep concerns about problematising and reconsidering academic entrepreneurialism to fill in unknown blind spots, tunnel vision, and breed new empathy amidst globalising knowledge society and economy.
He serves as Associate Editor of Humanities and Social Sciences Communications (Sociology and Education), the Associate Editor of the Journal of Comparative and International Higher Education (the official journal of Comparative and International Education Society’s Higher Education Special Interest Group), and sits on the Editorial Board of Chinese Education & Society.
