Moodle

Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) has been adopted by the University’s e-learning platform since September 2011. It has been very popular among educators around the world as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites for their students. More than one hundred and eighty thousand educational sites around the world currently use Moodle to deliver online courses and to supplement traditional face-to-face classes (known as blended learning). Moreover, Moodle offers a wide variety of tools that can make course delivery more effective. It provides an easy way to upload and share materials, hold online discussions, give quizzes and surveys, gather and review assignments and record grades.

Since Moodle LMS was launched, our Centre has been providing operational and training support to EdUHK Moodle users while the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) has been providing server and maintenance support. The Moodle supporting team at LTTC provides a wide range of supporting services to staff and students.

OCIO & LTTC News: Moodle 4.0 is Available in the Summer of 2023

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC) are working on the upgrade of Moodle from version 3.9 to 4.0. Starting from the Summer semester of 2023, users can enjoy the many new features of the new Moodle system. The upgrade is aimed at improving the learning and teaching experiences with new and enhanced features, which include:
  • A new contemporary theme with new activity icons for instructors and students to navigate the site and course content more easily.
  • Quiz, assignment and grading functions get better, allowing instructors to assign timed assignments and annotate students’ PDF assignments.
  • Students can focus more on learning and easily prioritise their coursework on the improved course site and rejuvenated dashboard and timeline.
New Moodle workshops, video tutorials and user guides will be offered in the coming months. Please stay tuned!

Turnitin Service Incident

Due to an unexpected service incident, Turnitin service may have experienced delays in Similarity Report generation from December 09, 2024 (Mon) at 12:24 pm to December 09, 2024 (Mon) at 6:46 pm. We are pleased to advise that the incident has been resolved. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused if the incident impacted for all users. .

New Moodle Launched for Summer 2024

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new Moodle platform for the Summer semester of 2024-25, designed to deliver an enhanced experience for both staff and students. This major upgrade to Moodle 4.1 introduces a fresh look and feel, making navigation easier and more intuitive. Additionally, there are significant improvements to the functionality and capacity, enhancing the overall user experience. The new Moodle 2024 (https://moodley2024.eduhk.hk) will host all courses starting from the Summer semester of 2024-25, while the existing Moodle 2023 will continue to host courses from the last semester up until June 2024. We believe these updates will greatly improve your teaching and learning experience.
