LTTC Hosts Insightful Sessions with Robotics and AI Specialist Dr. Ali Safa

6–9 January 2026, Hong Kong

From 6–9 January 2026, LTTC hosted a series of workshops and consultation sessions with Dr. Ali Safa, Assistant Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar, and Principal Investigator of HBKU’s Neuro-Robotics Lab. Dr. Safa, an expert in robotics, Edge AI, and sensor fusion, shared his expertise through insightful talks and consultation sessions with EdUHK staff and students.

Dr. Safa’s workshops covered topics such as "State-of-the-art Sensor Fusion Methods for Autonomous Robot Navigation" and "Modern Edge-AI Techniques for Designing Energy- and Memory-Efficient AI Models". Alongside these sessions, he toured the LTTC’s Metaverse Lab, LLM Studio, and explored advanced robotic platforms, including the Unitree Go2 robotic dog and UGOT robots, to discuss their potential applications for teaching, learning and research. During the consultation sessions, students showcased their capstone projects, presenting progress and outcomes while receiving targeted feedback and practical guidance from Dr Safa on robotics development and AI integration.

The visit highlighted LTTC’s commitment to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and international engagement in robotics and artificial intelligence. Dr. Safa’s participation strengthened connections between the two institutions and opened new opportunities for future collaboration to advance research-informed teaching and learning practices.
