Welcoming the Peking University Delegation

27 June 2025, Hong Kong

On 27 June 2025, the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC) and Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) co-hosted a visit from a delegation of scholars and postgraduate students from Peking University (PKU). The visit aimed to foster collaboration and exchange ideas on Emerging Technologies in Education. Dr Gary CHENG, Executive Co-Director of LTTC, warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the visit. Dr Cheng also emphasised the Centre’s recent work and achievements, including the development of AI-powered tools, digital competency frameworks and technology-enhanced learning environments such as the Metaverse Education Lab, the LLM Studio and Video Production Room.

Following the welcome session, the delegation toured several key LTTC facilities. At the Large Language Model (LLM) studio, LTTC colleagues showcased their core services, including a Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, as well as a series of workshops focused on using generative AI (e.g., DeepSeek) to promote innovation and productivity. In the Metaverse Education Lab, LTTC colleagues demonstrated self-developed courses and award-nominated case studies that leveraged immersive technologies, including virtual reality (VR) and metaverse education platforms.

At the Video Production Room, LTTC colleagues demonstrated the facility, which is equipped with a state-of-art one-touch video recording system, professional lighting, a chroma-key green screen, wireless microphones, mixers, and high-quality pan-tilt-zoom camera, catering to diverse needs for creating digital learning content at the university. Throughout the visit, fruitful discussions took place between the PKU delegation and LTTC staff members.

The visit provided a comprehensive overview of LTTC’s role as a leading hub for educational innovation at the university. The delegation learnt about LTTC’s cutting-edge initiatives, particularly in integrating AI and emerging technologies into teaching and learning. The visit concluded on a positive note, with both institutions recognising the vital role of global partnerships in fostering educational innovation.
