LTTC Welcomed Guests from SEAMEO INNOTECH to Explore AI and Education Collaboration

The Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC) warmly welcomed Dr Maja-Leah Ravago, the 10th Centre Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH), and Ms Jesset Marcelo, Associate to the Centre Director, on 10 July 2025. The purpose of this visit was to explore collaborative opportunities and exchange ideas on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies for quality education.
Dr. Gary Cheng, the Executive Co-Director of LTTC, welcomed the guests and highlighted LTTC’s mission to drive educational excellence through innovative pedagogical approaches and digital competency initiatives. He also shared recent developments, including the creation of AI-powered tools, digital competency frameworks, and immersive learning environments such as the Metaverse Education Lab and the Large Language Model (LLM) Studio.

The visit commenced at the Metaverse Education Lab, where LTTC colleagues demonstrated in-house-developed resources and award-nominated case studies that leveraged immersive technologies. Guests also had the opportunity to experience immersive learning environments within the Metaverse by utilising virtual reality (VR) and metaverse education platforms.
Subsequently, LTTC colleagues showcased the core services of the LLM Studio at the Artificial Intelligence Education Lab. Hands-on demonstrations of the Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform were provided, along with highlights of workshops that leverage generative AI (e.g., DeepSeek) to promote innovation and productivity.
Throughout the visit, Dr. Cheng and Dr. Ravago engaged in discussions on leveraging AI and emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning, with a shared goal of fostering effective and innovative educational outcomes.
