Abstract

This training workshop aims to equip teaching staff at our university as well as pre-service teachers with the knowledge and understanding to effectively integrate Virtual Reality (VR) into their teaching and learningpractices. As educational landscapes evolve, VR emerges as a transformative tool that offers immersive and interactive learningexperiences, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. This workshop will explore the potentials of VR on creating inclusive and engaging classroom environments, enhancing student engagement and reinforcing learning outcomes with reference drawn from InternVision.

Experience on the invention of a dual VR platform – InternVision owned by the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong will be adopted as an illustration.  Ideas andinsights on the application of VR technologies, pedagogical benefits andimplementation strategies will be highlighted. Through this session, participants will learn how to ignite ideas and facilitate VR-based lessons that cater to the increasingly diverse learning needs. The session will also highpoint good practices for incorporating VR into different disciplines or subject areas, ensuring that pre-service teachers can leverage this technology across the curriculum.

By the end of this training, recommendations for overcoming common challenges associated with VR integration in education will be put forward.  Participants will also develop an understanding on how to harness the power of VR to enrich their teaching practices, better preparing them to formulate dynamic, resourceful, and future-ready classrooms that can inspire and engage more students.
