The integration of AI in education is not merely a passing trend. In this workshop, Dr Leung will explore the transformative impact of GenerativeAI (GenAI) on higher education. He will share insights from his experiences applying GenAI in teaching practices, creating new and engaging learning environments, class activities, and student assessment methods. Additionally, Dr Leung will discuss his projects focused on developing GenAI tools to support innovative pedagogies along with ethical considerations in the design process.
This workshop will also provide hands-on tutorials, empowering participants to incorporate GenAI into their own classes. Participants will gain insights into the practical applications of AI in education, as well as strategies for enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes.

Dr Jac LEUNG

Dr Jac Leung is a Lecturer in the Division of Integrative Systems and Design at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has attained a Doctor of Education from The University of Hong Kong. Dr Leung is a seasoned trainer, facilitator and supervisor for student innovation projects. He is dedicated to promoting human-centred approaches and project-based learning practices. He is a co-author of the book AI Literacy in K-16 classrooms. Recently, Dr Leung has been working on several projects related to applications of Generative AI in teaching and learning, including a conversational AI platform for enhancing reflective capacity across four institutions, a university-wide AIcompanion for students’ well-being and growth, and potential applications of Generative AI tools in design thinking projects.
