Abstract

What is internationalisation at home (IaH) and why use it? Can we and our students become ‘global’ citizens only through travelling abroad? In this workshop, we aim to share our pearls, and pitfalls implementing IaH. We will delve into the process of developing cultural sensitivity, and learn how to create a culturally safe environment in our classrooms. This requires us to be inclusive, and work through our implicit biases and values with others when we collaborate. Join us as we explore the idea of being ‘all one but different, different but the same.’ We suggest that this insight into ourselves serves as the pivotal step towards working more effectively and more inclusively with others. In conclusion, there will be an overview of our next steps to advance the field of cultural competency with diverse disciplines in practice and research.
