Participation in this seminar can be counted towards the Certificate Course “Introduction to Teaching in Higher Education” under the theme, “Seminars/Workshops in Learning and Teaching”.
Emotions are a central part of learning that are often overlooked in educational settings. The existing body of literature underscores the critical influence of achievement emotions on student engagement and performance. This seminar aims to extend the discussion beyond mere self-regulation by exploring how both positive and negative emotions can profoundly impact student learning through self-regulated learning strategies. Moreover, I will discuss the potential of emotional regulation as a mediator in this dynamic relationship. The latter part of the session will transition to practical implications, drawing on current research to inform instructional design and teaching strategies. Participants will gain insights into fostering students’ emotional awareness and developing effective coping mechanisms, aiming to enhance educational experiences and outcomes.
